 32.  Records of Departmental Meetings  :  Enclosed the proceedings.

33.   SWOC analysis  of the Departmental and future plans :

A.   Strength of the Department :  Sociology department of Sarbodaya college can take pride in having some of the most enthusiastic and dedicated  teachers. All the teachers are qualified according to the latest U.G.C. norms. The Sociology department fulfills the need of the students of entire Community. To improve the research motivation of the students ,the department has great opportunities because S.T. plains communities people are live near the College where the students get opportunities to done their research works on social ,economic ,cultural, religious and other aspects of S.T. people. In addition to the formal methods, the greatest strength of the  department has been the TEACHER-STUDENT intimate relationship ,which helps students to solve their academic and personal problems as well.

B.   The College is situated at rural areas and majority of the families live under poverty line and engaged with agricultural activities.  So, the socio-economic backwardness of the students are the main weakness for the development of the department.  To impart  quality education, the lack of sufficient number of teachers is a great hurdle. The lack of departmental library with sufficient reference books is the another weakness of the department. After acquiring requisite qualifications, the State Government has not yet provincialised the post of a teacher which creates  problems to the department. The College is more than 30km away from the Jorhat town, which stands as barrier to invite special  Guest teachers to the department.

C.  Opportunities of the Department  :  The great opportunities of the department of Sociology is that S.T. and S.C. people are living surrounding the college and it helps to the faculty and students to do their research work on social, economic, religious and other activities of the S.T. and S.C. people. Department of Sociology is not introduce all the colleges under the Dibrugarh University, but in Jorhat district majority of the colleges have the sociology department, which creates the opportunities to the students to interaction with the senior faculty members and students of various colleges. The students of the department has great opportunities to special placement  of the different Governments or non –government sectors like social service, medical department etc. If more job oriented coaching classes could be organised for the students of the department exclusively, it would give them good result.

D.  Challenges of the Department :  The placement of the output in different Government and Non- Government sectors and self employment is one of the main challenges for the department.  Most of the students belongs to farmer families and economically weak, so it is noticeable challenge for the department to aware  students and guardian to complete their  graduation for their future interest of the life.
