Sarbodaya College is the only Degree College in the Dergaon S.C. Reserved Legislative Assembly Constituency which is situated in historic Malow Pather, Jorhat in the state of Assam. To impart and spread higher education in this rural area the foundation stone of this college was laid on the auspicious occasion of the Teacher’s Day, i.e. 5th September, 1985. This college had a long history of its upliftment. Initially, the
college offered Higher Secondary Courses along with Degree Courses. Late Jibeswar Bora was the founder Principal of this college who chaired the Principal ship of then amalgamated Sarbodaya College from 1985-1996. AS an eminent Educationist he has been devoted his whole life to develop education in the entire North East Jorhat. He established Gorumora High School, Sarbodaya Junior College, Sarbodaya College and many more institution in this locality. As he aware that without education no one can develop Intellectual mind and so he takes step to develop the infra-structure of the Education Institution in this area. Interestingly the Local Community have has offered helping hand to him to achieve his goal and in this way he set up the foundation of Modern Education in this area.
